Cheers to Bordeaux

Bordeaux is sexy and sophisticated. Think old money, expensive drinks, and a European feel. The wine itself hails from the Bordeaux region of France, and its sweet decadence is best described by Madeline Puckette of Wine Folly right here. As you can tell, it’s a drink for a those with a refined palate, the same way¬† Jordans are a sneaker for those with a certain shoe appreciation.

Of course the new and updated look to the Air Jordan 12 intends to wow, between its premium suede construction and shiny silver lace grabs. Bordeaux dons the elegance of an unopened bottle of wine, but by the end of this week, Jordan fans are ready to uncork and party. And they will.

The Takeaway Colorway

The colorway is what has everyone talking about Bordeaux. Nike is no stranger to the spectrum of reds, Bordeaux emerges as an iconic colorway for the Air Jordan 12. It does suede justice, the same way jewel tones do, and provides a new look for the over 20-year-old design.

The color stays current with Fall fashion, closely mirroring Pantone‘s colors of the season. It’s no surprise that Bordeaux draws inspiration from the New York palette, in which Tawny Port is a season favorite.

It rises above the other 10 colors, mostly because of its takeover of boots. While winter boots usually come in two staple colors, black and brown, this season has begun to see reds become a competitive third party. Bordeaux leads the seasonal shoe party, starting this weekend.

Bottoms Up

The sole of Bordeaux is just as full-bodied as the rest of the shoe. The houndstooth grip and Jumpman logo keep the shoe’s primary color. White contrast detail encases the snakeskin print, providing a little edge to the classy, understated release.
